Source-based editorial guide · Not veterinarian reviewed

A small flock still needs a complete system. Penn State Extension emphasizes suitable feeders, clean water available at all times and minerals formulated for the species. Make routine care reliable without turning general advice into a treatment plan.

## Watch the animals, not just supplies

A feeder can contain feed while one animal is not getting access. Watch the flock at feeding time and note sheep that hang back. Penn State recommends feeders that keep feed off the ground and enough access for the feeding system. Ask a nutrition adviser about the ration.

## Connect pasture and records

The Extension guide explains that grazing management affects forage quality and exposure to parasite larvae. Record which group used which paddock and when. Do not copy one rotation interval into every season: forage growth, stocking and local parasite risk differ.

## Know who to call

Penn State advises every producer to form a relationship with a veterinarian. Keep flock identification and changes in condition together. Those notes support a conversation, but they do not replace an examination, testing or a professional parasite-control plan. Plan your contact route before an urgent problem.

## Your quick-reference checklist

- Check clean, available water.
- Check feed access and feeders.
- Use sheep-appropriate minerals.
- Inspect boundaries and gates.
- Record paddock moves and individual concerns.

A memory aid only. Adapt to your animals and your veterinarian's care plan.

## Care information, not veterinary advice

These guides do not diagnose, prescribe or replace a veterinarian. For an animal in distress, call your veterinarian or emergency veterinary service now. Do not wait for an app response.

## Common questions

### Should every sheep get parasite treatment on one calendar date?

Do not use this checklist as a blanket treatment schedule. Penn State discusses targeted treatment and veterinary support.
